Open a Sweet New Business - Cupcakes and Coffee Store

There are thousands of doughnut and coffee shops, but you rarely see cupcake shops. I've never turned down a cupcake. Why would I? Cupcakes are tasty and delicious so it begs the question... why aren't there more cupcake businesses?

Who would buy your cupcakes?

1. Sugar Addicts - people like me who are addicted to Sugar and like variety. Don't get me wrong, Doughnuts are great and places like Dunkin' Donuts and Krispy Kreme would still get my business but I'd certainly put a Cupcakes and Coffee store in my rotation.

2. Cupcakes for Weddings - almost every wedding I've been too has lacked in the cake department, sure it looks pretty but fails miserably in the taste department, brides to be could really please a lot of their guests by providing a variety of gourmet cupcakes in addition or in place of the traditional wedding cake

3. Cupcakes for Events - businesses, associations, other event organizers are always looking for ways to differientate themselves and gourmet cupcakes can certainly make a great impression

4. Cupcakes for Birthday Parties - sometimes people get bored having traditional cake every year and want to mix it up, gourmet cupcakes are a great way to treat friends and family

5. Cupcakes for Families - parents are busy, they look for quick, easy, tasty desserts - plenty of room for cupcakes to gain market share here

6. Cupcakes for Fund Raising - Krispy Kreme has done very well at getting schools to sell their doughnuts to raise money, there is plenty of room for cupcakes to enter this market as well.

Increase Profits with Coffee Sales

Coffee is big business and since you'll have paying customers you might as well increase your profits by offering them something to wash down their tasty cupcakes. Starbucks exploded and fast food restaurants such as McDonalds and Burger King noticed so they added coffee to their menus and are getting a ton of people to pay $2-$3 for hot and cold flavored coffee, cappuccinos, mochos, frappochinos and more. This works great if you plan to have a retail location where people can come in to relax, eat a cupcake, enjoy their coffee and perhaps work on their laptop or chat with friends.
